So frustrated with Blogger!

Blogger hasn't let me leave comments on any of your blogs for almost a week now! I've tried everything I can to fix it. Are any of you having this problem? If so, please tell me how to fix it!!

Pinterest?

So, in my usual fashion, I am incredibly behind the times with social networking technology. (It only took me about 7 years to finally get on facebook.) I now have a Pinterest account, but I'm just not sure of the most efficient way to use it. So far I've used it to compile invitation ideas for the party we're going to have when we close on our first house (more on that later) but that's about it.

I'm curious how all of you use your Pinterest accounts. Leave a comment to let me know.

Happy Memorial Day

We are so lucky to live where we live, and have all of the luxuries we have in our life. I hope all of you have had a wonderful Memorial Day! We spent ours in Chattanooga visiting family. I got to see my younger brother who I haven't seen in months! What have you been up to this weekend?
This lakehouse is perfect for Memorial Day inspiration.

Rainbows and Moonbeams

I saw both ends of a huge rainbow today on my way home from work! I know, I know, I shouldn't have been taking pictures while I was driving, but It was really beautiful! my blackberry's camera didn't do it justice. I'm taking this as a good sign for things to come!

Stepping It Up

I'm back from Baton Rouge and I've missed all of you!

Until today I haven't been in a Payless ShoeSource for a couple of years. They've stepped up their game since then! I'm on a big budget now that we're buying a house. I found three great pairs of summer shoes for $50 thanks to a 20% off coupon. These are two of my finds. Man I love a good deal!

Percy Turns One!

Sweet baby Percy turned one year old today! I'm so glad I got to help Liz and Ethan celebrate their little guy! Despite a couple of rain showers it was a perfect day for a backyard party.
Percy's first cupcake.
And after getting covered in icing he got to take a dip in the pool!

Fabric Palette Inspiration

As we circle and prepare to land on our first house, (fingers crossed everyone!) I'm pulling fabrics and paint colors for myself for the first time ever! This is what I've pulled so far as my inspiration. It could change at any moment, but for now I'm in love. What do you think?

Birthday Party Goodies

I'm helping plan some birthday parties this weekend! One is a 1st birthday, which is extra special! Check out these great goodies we're going to be working with! As you can see our color theme is blue, green and yellow.

I'm making personalized banners for both birthdays. It's a really easy and inexpensive way to make individual decorations. All it takes is decorative paper, a circle cutter, glue stick, hole punch, glitter paint and string.

First, cut out two different sizes of paper circles in different colors. I use a circle cutter, but you could also use items in your home to trace circles and then cut out with scissors.

Glue the smaller circles onto the larger circles with a glue stick.

Write one letter of your message in the center of each circle with glitter paint.

With a hole punch, put one hole at the top of each circle. String them onto a sturdy string, adding a knot at the top of each circle to keep them equally spaced.

Nice House vs. Nice Neighborhood

The longer we look for our first place the less sure I am of what I want! The more houses we look at it seems that our situation boils down to this: we either get a charming, characterful gem of a bungalow in a semi-scary but up-and-coming neighborhood, or an outdated, sort of bland 1960s ranch in a great neighborhood with a great elementary school.

We're adventurous people. We lived and loved our little Harlem apartment which was also in a semi-scary but up-and-coming neighborhood. It had it's bad moments (like scary men on the street and one shooting) but overall it was awesome and we loved living there!

What are your thoughts? Would you buy a house like this?

Even if it was surrounded by houses like this?

How did you celebrate?

Anthropologie Accessories Store

Nashville has a new Anthropologie Accessories store in addition to our regular Anthropologie. I went for the first time tonight and bought this sweet little pair of earrings. The store was a little over-edited (read: bare) for me, but I loved everything they had! Also, isn't their packaging great? I loved the little fabric pouches they tie your purchase in!

Woven Paper Notecards

I felt a little crafty this afternoon, so I made some quick woven paper notecards. From start to finish it took about 45 minutes to make two notecards, and that includes the time it took to get my supplies out of the closet!

I started out with my stash of decorative paper. I decided to use the scraps left over from past projects.
I used my handy-dandy paper cutter to cut out a rectangular piece of cardstock to use as a base. Be sure it's the right size to fit into the envelopes you have on hand. Then I started cutting strips of paper to weave together. They don't have to be the perfect length at this stage. You can always trim the edges when you're done.
Start by gluing one paper strip down only in one corner.
Then glue a second strip in the same corner but in the opposite direction.
Then glue a second strip and weave it under the first, and so on.
Then you have your finished product! These are so quick and easy! Perfect to do with kids. Now I just need to mail them to special people!
