Flea Market Inspiration

I ventured into the cicada-infested Nashville Flea Market last Saturday to find inspiration for our soon-to-be new house. (More on that in the relatively near future!) I've heard designers say it, but never realized how true it is that when it comes time to design your own home it's twice as hard as a normal project. And not just because my budget is so minimal! After wandering aimlessly for a couple of hours, I decided that I'm going to have to move into the house and get a feel for it before I jump into any purchases. But, here are a couple of the cool furniture pieces I saw through the cloud of cicadas!
This vintage work table has an incredible blue-painted metal base.
Vintage drafting tables always catch my attention!
This metal-frame Kitchen island had enormous reclaimed castors and a beautiful wood top with lots of character.
Mis-matched metal barstools painted the same color are instantly unified. This vendor was going to sell me both for $45! But, this is an easy DIY project idea for the future...
This vintage glider is in terrible condition, but I love the idea of it. I'm a sucker for a good glider!

  2. It's so hard to discipline yourself and hold off on purchasing until you see how you will live in your new space. I commend you for your self control!

  4. awesome finds! that drafting table is very cool and i love the kitchen cart! was it normal counter height or was it bar height? i couldn't tell from the picture but those huge wheels made it seem a little higher than normal kitchen counters...but i could be nuts!

  5. Yes, definitely wait until you move in, and live there for a few months...it's so hard to know the space, and your needs etc. Anyway, you'll be there for a long time, right???

  6. These are some really great finds! The vintage work table is my favorite. Designing your own space is always the hardest, because you actually have to live with it! Luckily, it can be the most rewarding, too!
